Matthew Casson
Owner/Operator/Guide

Coming from Ontario over a decade ago Matt has a deep appreciation for the wilderness here in British Columbia.  With a traditional background of hiking and canoeing Matt began his career washing dishes and scrubbing boats to earn his keep on canoe trips working for his friends dad. It wasn't until 2010 Matt began guiding canoe expeditions in the Canadian Arctic .   Since then Matt has been learning, exploring and guiding on rivers and mountains in the Canadian Arctic and throughout British Columbia.

When the rivers freeze up in the winter time Matt Heads to his home in the Mountains of British Columbia where he works as an ACMG Ski Guide.  This allows him to follow his passion for paddling rivers and skiing powder and using his knowledge to help facilitate memorable experiences for happy guests!

Outdoor Explore
Adventure Co.

Outdoor Explore is the culmination of Matt's passion and dedication to helping facilitate adventurous and memorable wilderness trips for others!  This is the hub to bring Paddling, Hiking and backcountry skiing (future addition) all under one roof with Learning and self progression, good food and safe guiding.

Being a small operator, we have the ability to be flexible in our dates and our locations we choose to go to.  We can choose from a variety of hiking destinations near and far as well as a few different rivers depending on what you would like to do and what the weather will let us do.  Or if you have a trip but need a hand you can just hire us as a guide.

Training and Safety Standards

Matt's professional training started in 2010 when he took the 2 year Adventure Guide Diploma at Thompson Rivers University.  This taught him a high standard in first aid, river rescue and mountain rescue as well as the importance of constant training and re certification courses.

Whether you're being guided by Matt or another Outdoor Explore Guide, you can be sure that they are well trained and certified along with having your safety as their top priority!

Please, feel free to ask your guide about about their training process or risk management decision making.  All really cool stuff!
